It all started in Roslindale Square back in 1952. It was the first Roche Bros. market, and our community welcomed us warmly. Maybe it's because we had the same family values. Maybe it's our commitment to friendly service, quality products and the people of our community. Certainly, it's a friendship that has endured, and with our new Online Store, we'll be able to bring quality products right to your door. Brief History Tour
Pat and Bud Roche opened their first store in 1952 in Roslindale, which began as a meat and produce store. This first store expanded in 1957 to include a grocery department. From there the chain began to grow with the opening of a store in Needham in 1959 and in West Roxbury in 1967. The growth continued with a new store in Westwood in 1970, which was the first to incorporate a "department" concept of merchandising, adding a bakery, florist, and a restaurant to make shopping more fun. By 1981, the chain had expanded to 5 stores, with the opening of the Natick store in 1974 and the Wellesley store in 1981. Now, in 2005, we opened our 17th and newest store in Marshfield.
